Margaret Has a New Home

After several weeks of building through typhoon and rain squall delays, Margaret has a new home. You might remember that we did a driveway and walls at our last house in January of this year, and when we moved, we had a larger job to complete.

The fantastic people at Wall Systems NW once again did a great job on our retaining walls and driveway so we can fit both our Flying Cloud 23FB and our tow vehicle in together. Lots of earth was moved, and rock used to build the walls.

Paul Benedict, the owner, was once again diligent, creative and smart about how to build what we needed and make it look really good. So, once again, thanks to Paul and his crew, Chuck, Richard and Kyle, for making our new home that much nicer.

Buster loves to perch up on the walls so he can look out over the street and take in the view. John and I spent a Saturday planting our new planter with Japanese Maples and a Red Bud tree surrounded by grasses and tulip bulbs that will pop in the spring.

If you need retaining walls of any sort, we highly recommend Paul and Wall Systems, NW. Please get in touch with me and I’ll be happy to give you their number. Plus, they are super fun to work with.

We now have Margaret set for family and friends, and most likely us to live in for a few months as we get ready to renovate the house.

Champoeg State Park, Oregon

This past weekend, we had a great trip to Champoeg, Oregon and saw lots of folks we’ve met at other rallies and made new friends. The rally was for the Oregon Unit’s annual meeting and there were 64 Airstreams and over 100 people who were there.

Pictured above is an amazing vintage trailer that won the People’s Choice Award at Modernism week last year in Palm Springs. It belongs to Doug and Mona Heath, who is past President of the WBBCI Oregon Unit and works with Airstreams 2 Go.

We picked up pumpkins and walked to the historic Butteville Country Store where they made amazing cherry pies.

There is a bikeway that runs along the entire Willamette Valley that is stunning right now.

We look forward to many more rallies with this group, and more adventures ahead.

The New Driveway is Ready for Margaret

After a solid week of mud, cleaning the floors of the house constantly and moving rocks and debris around, the driveway is finished. We widened it by 4 feet, put in two retaining walls and a new pad with 5/8 – foundation gravel. It looks great. The team at Wall Systems, NW could not have been nicer, more professional and greater problem solvers. Thanks to Paul Benedict for walking us through everything from start to finish. If you need retaining walls, these are the guys to go to. I’m happy to send you their info. They are working on a new website so I’ll post it when they finish it up.

Now we have to go pick up our Airstream at the beginning of March. I can’t wait.

Getting Ready for the New Airstream

The good people at Wall Systems NW are working hard to build new retaining walls for me and my neighbors. The driveway is also being widened by almost 5 feet. Right now it’s a muddy mess, but one wall is almost up and by the weekend it should look a whole lot different.

I’ve actually been wanting to do this for about the last ten years, but now it’s going to be done and it’ll look great.
